Village Day
Thank you to all the volunteers and local merchants who participated in
Village Day. Check out the Area Council’s new website for great
photos and current news. We especially want to thank the two chairs: Katie
Dallas and John Rice. We still need a third co-chair to join Katie and
John in managing this event. If interested call John Rice (617-332-5827)
or Katie Dallas (617-969-2331).
2002 HAUNTED HOUSE VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR NEEDED!
The Halloween Haunted House is a 25 year tradition in Newton Highlands.
It is a structure that is set up in the Hyde Community Center for the
community. Designed for children, ages 8-11 years, it offers a fun and
scary trip with a different theme each year. Last year it was “Mutant
Highlands”! The coordinator organizes & recruits volunteers
to set up, break down, and clean up, to recruit actors/actresses to scare
the kids and people to assist in guiding the kids in the haunted house.
Doug Smith has been the creative genius and works to come up with the
theme and images. Doug can no longer do both.
Sunday, October 27, 2002
Can you believe its fall already? While you are thinking about back to
school, apple picking, cool nights and harvest fairs, the kids will be
planning their favorite costume!
HALLOWEEN CHILDREN’S PARTY
(up to age 8) -- 5pm-6pm
Parade of Horribles -- 6pm-6:30pm
We need people to bake cookies and other goodies. Please contact Amy Mazur
(617-969-5659).
HAUNTED HOUSE
(8-11 yrs) – 6:30pm-8:00pm
The scary part of the night! However, in order to meet the new fire codes,
we have started to rebuild the haunted house. We need painters and people
who like to work with their hands. This initial work needs to be done
in September and early October. We also need people to set up, break down,
actors/actresses to scare the kids, and people to assist in directing
the participants. To work on the haunted house, contact Doug Smith (617-558-3256)
or Janice Bourque (617-332-0676).
