REPORTS AND DISCUSSIONS:

Village Day

  • Overall a very successful event.
  • Booth density: need to recruit more booths at Autumn fair. Discussed possibility of asking City Hall for names/numbers; Garrett has list of contacts. Also discussed idea of having council members hand out brochures with web site and Hyde Center phone number.
  • Future ideas: puppet show; pie-eating contest.
  • T-shirts were produced in the wrong color. Company submitted an invoice for re-run on partial order. Council decided to pay the first invoice; Patty will follow-up with company.
  • Confirmed that Bill will send checks to Katy and John..
  • Permit fee was an additional $70 for starting before noon. Discussed possibility that it was a mistake, since the event didn’t start before noon. Also questioned $25 fee to City, since NHNAC is part of the City.
  • It was suggested that an additional (third) co-chair be designated as a back-up.

Brigham House

  • No longer part of NCSC lease; Brigham House is sole holder of lease.
  • Currently negotiating with fundraising consultant.
  • Summer hours were extended to 6 – 11 PM.

Nominating Committee

  • No new developments.

Newsletter

  • Worked well to limit Council newsletter to three issues per year, since newsletter is major expense for Council ($200 per issue). Past years were five issues.
  • Next newsletter goes out at the end of August. Needs to include Halloween Party information.

Web Site

  • Was recently updated to include Village Day and Avalon Bay.
