Minutes of the meeting of June 20, 2002

ADMINISTRATIVE REPORTS:
Approval of minutes: Minutes of the meeting of May 16 were approved.
COMMUNICATIONS:
Joseph Dyer sent emails to Keith on the proposed skateboard park.
Janice was contacted by a woman on Winchester Street regarding large truck traffic.
Christine Micklitsch called Keith regarding 7a planning meeting on a community event remembering 9/11.
VISITORS PLATFORM:
Joseph Dyer (who has been in Newton Highlands since 1975 and is the organist for the Congregational Church) presented information and a statement opposing the proposed skateboard park at Whitmore playground.
REPORTS AND DISCUSSION:
Village Day went well. Question was raised of getting more booths.
Brigham House. There are two new staff members. New summer hours will be 6-11 p.m., Wednesday-Saturday. Christine Micklitsch and Carol Carroll are teaching a sewing class for teens on Tuesday afternoons. A chess group will be renting space for a couple weeks in August. The yard sale was so-so. There will be a party tomorrow for five seniors who have been very active at Brigham House. A new lease is being signed with the city.
Web site. Srdjan will put up stuff from Village Day. Janice suggested putting up photos of Haunted House from Halloween, and that perhaps Bill Koney could take pictures next year, including the set-up.
Parking. Janice got a call from Michael Baker about parking on Lincoln Street.
Baker's Best. A sound barrier is up. There are still complaints regarding traffic/deliveries, parking, smells.
Needham Street. The city is working on a design. Avalon Bay is contributing $500,000 to street improvements. Srdjan, Bob and Tony attended the Avalon Bay ground breaking.
Comprehensive Plan Advisory Committee. George and Srdjan are on it. It
will deal with the Framework report, over the next two years.
