"MUTANT HIGHLANDS" HAUNTED HOUSE
Did you enjoy the haunted house theme "Mutant Highlands?" Each year Doug Smith, Janice Bourque and others come up with a theme and develop each of the "rooms" the kids visit to reflect that theme. Last year the "Mutant Highlands" theme offered a fun reflection on the many businesses that are part of the Highlands community. The "Haunted Village" included a hair salon, post office, pizza shop, church choir, ice cream parlor and the magnificent climb and SLIDE into the WICKED SKULL MOUTH. Individual rooms had a particular focus. Kids were able to visit "Ice Scream Works, an unusual ice cream shop with little horrible mixins’ for your favorite live "ice scream". A hair salon "Depravis Salon" offered special cuts via a chain saw with two wild looking hairdressers. Kids were serenaded by "St. Appallings Choir" from a local church while on their way to the special Post Office where an evil postman wrapped up kids and sent them through the mail slot and a search in the "dead letter" bin involved an encounter with a large spider! On their way out of the "Haunted Village" kids discovered that a very special "eyeball & things" pizza awaited them as they exited through a special oven of reaching hands and strobe lights. We hope you enjoyed it and will help us create a new theme next year.
2002 HAUNTED HOUSE VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR NEEDED!
The coordinator organizes & recruits volunteers to set up, break down, and clean up, and recruits actors/actresses to scare the kids, and to assist in guiding the kids in the haunted house. Doug Smith is the creative genius and works to come up with the theme and images. Doug can no longer do both. Please contact Doug Smith (617-558-3256) or Janice Bourque (617-332-0676).
