Annual Winter Social

The Annual Winter Social 2002 was a huge success with local Highlanders lining up at the doorway exactly at 6:00pm! Well over 125 people attended with soup running out by 7:00pm. We saw many new faces and were happy that so many folks joined the Newton Highlands Neighborhood Area Council and the Newton Highlands Community Development Corporation in "chasing their winter blues away" with excellent donated soups from local restaurants.
We were able to sample Creamy Tomato Basil from Baker’s Best; Coconut Chicken from Jamjuli; Cream of Califlower from Le Soir; Chicken and Rice from Newton Highlands Pizza House and Chicken Pot Pie from O’Hara’s. An assortment of bread, crackers and cheese was provided by Bread & Circus with beverages from Store 24. Homemade vanilla ice cream with hot fudge sauce, compliments of Ice Cream Works and coffee from Dunkin Donuts completed the meal.
These local merchants deserve a huge ‘THANK YOU" as year after year they have generously donated their food so we can provide this community gathering free to local Highlanders. Thank you also to Patti Kellogg, Bill Koney, Keith and Susan Tornheim, Susan and Norman Fast, Srdjan and Darlene Nedeljkovic and Janice and Elycia Bourque for assisting with the preparation and serving. Tell your neighbors and bring them next year!
