Mayor Cohen Selects Turner Construction Company for Project Manager
The selection of a project manager is among the most crucial decisions I have to make during the construction process. A project manager does not present designs or build the building. Rather it oversees critical aspects of the construction project. Our project management team will scrutinize the architectural drawings and the construction documents. Most importantly our project management team will make sure that the actual construction is kept on track and on schedule. In short, it is the project manager’s role to ensure that the building as built reflects the building as envisioned by our community and laid out in the architect’s design.
I am pleased to announce that I have selected the Turner Construction Company as the project manager for the building of the new Newton North High School. Turner Construction has 100 years of experience and a proven track record in school construction. The Turner Construction Company has built dozens of environmentally friendly, state-of-the-art schools, office buildings, and sporting facilities throughout the country.
One of the key reasons Turner was chosen, however, is that the people of Turner are familiar with the people of Newton. Turner was the project manager for the terrific 400,000 square foot renovation project at Newton South High School that has revitalized the school. Their efforts ensured our tight deadline was met, culminating in the opening of school this year on time. In addition, I firmly believe that if it weren’t for the wisdom and expertise of the managers at Turner Construction, the City of Newton would be mired in an unfeasible renovation project at Newton North, rather than the exciting prospect of a brand new, state-of-the-art facility that our community deserves.
