![]() Elizabeth Vaughn Okie Paxton (1877-1971) Elizabeth Paxton was born in Providence, Rhode Island, and began her art studies at the Cowles Art School under Ernest Major and Joseph DeCamp. It was there that she met her husband William Paxton with whom she also studied. She had a studio in their Newton home at 19 Montvale Road and in the summers painted with her husband on Cape Ann and Cape Cod.
Elizabeth was known for her still lifes and figure studies and won many prizes. After her husband's death she moved to the Fenway Studios in Boston where she painted for many years. |
