Summer Swim Permit: the permit fee covers - June 14 through September 6, 2010
  • Permits are issued to RESIDENTS ONLY for the Summer season.
  • Fees are non-refundable once permit is sold.
Rates: Seasonal Swim Permit (Valid 6/14/10 thru 9/6/10) Fee: - subject to change prior to summer beginning
 
  • Seniors (Any Adult over age 62)
  • Fees $20.00 per Recreation Commission Vote.
 
  • Adults (18 years of age and older)
  • Fees $45.00
 
  • Students are considered (any person 4 years and older in the lesson program through 18 years of age)
  • Fees $20.00

  • Residents with financial hardship may apply to the Commissioner of Parks and Recreation for a scholarship/fee waiver.
  • Summer Swim Permits are valid at both Crystal Lake and Gath Pool.
  • Summer Swim Permits are only valid through September 6, 2010 Labor Day.

Swimming Lessons:

  • The City of Newton provides lessons to its residents for a nominal fee. The fee for the 2010 season will be Fees $40.00 (subject to change)
  • All participants in the lesson program regardless of age are required to have a swim permit to obtain the discounted price. This fee is separate from the season swim permit.
  • Lessons Only may be charged to Visa or Master Card. Gath Pool accepts students that are 3 years old and toilet trained for lessons.  Crystal Lake children must be 4 and trained. The new American Red Cross Learn to Swim Program.  Children in Levels 1-6 must be a minimum of age 6 to participate at this level regardless of what levels they were in during past years.  Anyone under age 6 must be in the pre-school level for their age.  Level 1 - 3 year olds, Leve 2 - 4 year olds and Level 3 - 5 year olds.
  • We have four sessions of lessons for the summer of 2010, please note the session dates below and are contingent on Newton Public School closing date.

Swim Wear: Bathing suits are a requirement under Massachusetts Health Code. No Substitutes will be accepted. Positively no street clothes, cutoffs, leotards etc..... We strongly suggest that all patrons take care in purchasing socially acceptable bathing attire. Management reserves the right to determine what will be acceptable swim wear.

Diapers: No Children with diapers will be permitted in the big pool: We will accept a commercially produced reusable swim diaper with the addition of a bathing suit covering the swim diaper in the wading pool. Disposable swim diapers will not be permitted. Non-toilet trained children will be denied entrance to the main pool.

Swim Apparatus: Snorkels, Masks Fins, Inner tubes, Inflated toys of any kind are not allowed except during Recreation Department Sponsored eventsand as part of the learn to swim program.

Food: Absolutely no food, drink, alcoholic beverages are permitted. Glass containers prohibited within 20 of pool area this is also a MDPH Health Code Regulation..

Chairs and other obstacles: Baby carriages, lawn chairs, umbrellas and newspapers etc... are not permitted on the pool deck. This is for the comfort of all users and the protection of users because of wind blown items. Small carry on baby car seat will be acceptable.

Baby Pool opens 9:00 AM Weekdays and closes at Dusk - Not open during swim meets.
