Parking :

With construction started on the new high school parking will be at a premium at NNHS Indoor Recreation Center. We share the school parking with Community Education, Athletics and our Recreation Program. It is highly recommended that you commute with several participants or get dropped off during your recreation activities for the construction term. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated.

History:

In 1971 when Newton was facing the construction of a new High School to modernize the North High School, there was also a move to create a recreation center for the community. The wishes of the community and athletic department were accomplished by the creation of one large athletic facility that would be open and operational to the public for recreation when the High School was not using the site for athletics.

The Newton North Athletic and Recreation Complex opened to the public in 1975.

This cooperative facility has a 6 lane pool, two diving boards, a double wide exhibition gymnasium with seating for 1500, a back full size gymnasium for basketball and volleyball as well as a Simulated Outdoor Area with a 4 lane track, badminton courts and batting cage.

This site is operated by the Newton Parks and Recreation Department under the direction of Commissioner Fran L. Towle from October thru the middle of May annually.

Membership Information:

Annual Membership:

Resident Adult: $60.00

Resident Student $40.00 - all children in lessons regardless of age in order to receive member discount rate for lessons

Non - Resident Member individuals only $125.00

Payment Plans Available - 50% deposit then daily fee each visit until paid

50% of the annual membership then appropriate daily fee each visit.

Swim Lesson Fee:

Resident Members - $45.00 each

Resident Non-Members - $60.00 each

Non-Residents - $60.00 each plus membership
