Accessory Apartment Incentive Program
The Accessory Apartment Incentive Program (AAIP) is a new program in
which the City of Newton will grant up to $90,000 to eligible Newton
homeowners to create an accessory apartment. The grant is for design,
permit, construction and other costs of creating the apartment. The
grant
can be used to either create a new accessory apartment or to legalize
an existing one. Community Living Network is a joint partner in this
program
and they have supplied a program coordinator that will offer technical
assistance to help the homeowners through the process. In return for
the
financial and technical assistance the homeowners will provide affordable
rental housing in the accessory apartment. There are certain restrictions
under this program, and interested homeowners should get more details
