The Newton Youth Commission meets the 1st Wednesday of each month (except July & August) at 7:00pm in the Newton City Hall cafeteria.

The Newton Youth Commission is a volunteer body of adults and high school students working together to empower youth. The goals of the Youth Commission are to:

Encourage youth to take a leadership role in the community and to act as spokesperson for their peers

Inform and provide youth with opportunities and resources to meet their needs

Create and implement information programs, such as education seminars for high school students on health and prevention issues
-
Unify teens within Newton
-
Identify youth issues and problems and find solutions to address them
-
Increase communication and connections between the agencies within Newton that provide youth services.
The Newton Youth Commission is staffed by the Department of Health & Human Services to support the new city-wide Youth Interagency Task Force (see Youth Services Resources Booklet.)
