YOUTH SERVICES
The City of Newton is home to many support services and opportunities for our youth. Our City’s schools, parks and recreation department, health and human services department, police youth officers, and many non-profit agencies all work together to make our City a special place for young people to learn and grow. A Youth Interagency Task Force (YITF) was convened by the City’s Health & Human Services Department in the fall of 2005. Comprised of youth services providers from across the City, the YITF meets on a quarterly basis to share information and address issues of concern and importance related to youth. All known youth services providers, their contact information and an overview of their programs are now listed in the City’s annual YOUTH SERVICES RESOURCE BOOKLET. For more information about the Youth Interagency Task Force, or if you have difficulty downloading the Youth Booklet, contact Beverly Droz in the Human & Volunteer Services Division at 617-796-1290, or email bdroz@newtonma.gov . The NEWTON YOUTH COMMISSION is a volunteer body of adults and high school students working together to empower youth. The DEPARTMENT of PARKS & RECREATION offers a wide range of recreational programs year-round for youths of all ages and abilities. The NEWTON PUBLIC SCHOOLS is the largest provider of youth services in the City and serves 11,300 students with academic, recreational, and support services. |
