| Newton Renewable Resources | Newton Renewable Resources offers incentives for solar energy installations. Would you like to see your electric meter spin backwards? How about producing most of your hot water needs from the Sun? Mayor David B. Cohen has established an advisory committee for Newton’s partnership with the U.S. Department of Energy’s Million Solar Roofs initiative. Our goal is 500 Solar Roofs in Newton by 2010. Mass Energy Consumers Alliance has been awarded funds by the Massachusetts Technology Collaborative to assist all of Newton in installing solar energy systems. If you cannot participate in this program, you can still help with renewable energy in several ways: Learn how to make a donation to a non-profit installation in Newton. Learn how to purchase certificates of renewable energy. Please call or email David Tannozzini, 617-796-1605, for more information on renewable energy and/or if you are interested in joining the Mayor’s Advisory Committee.
