Newton Renewable Resources

Newton Renewable Resources offers incentives for solar energy installations. Would you like to see your electric meter spin backwards? How about producing most of your hot water needs from the Sun? Mayor David B. Cohen has established an advisory committee for Newton’s partnership with the U.S. Department of Energy’s Million Solar Roofs initiative. Our goal is 500 Solar Roofs in Newton by 2010. Mass Energy Consumers Alliance has been awarded funds by the Massachusetts Technology Collaborative to assist all of Newton in installing solar energy systems. If you cannot participate in this program, you can still help with renewable energy in several ways:

Learn how to make a donation to a non-profit installation in Newton.

Learn how to purchase certificates of renewable energy.

Please call or email David Tannozzini, 617-796-1605, for more information on renewable energy and/or if you are interested in joining the Mayor’s Advisory Committee.

Newton Energy Commission

Newton Energy Commission initiates Energy Action Plan
Did you know that our Country, on a bad day, has to import over 400 million gallons of oil? Did you know there were 365 bad days last year? How about the last decade being the warmest in 1,000 years with increasing extremes in temperature! That’s some of the big picture items.

The Newton Citizens Commission on Energy is preparing our City’s Energy Action Plan . The Commission can help you save energy and money in your home or business. Please call or email David Tannozzini, 617-796-1605, for information on energy efficiency programs and/or if you are interested in joining the Energy Commission.
