News from the Clerk’s Office

It is time to get your dog’s 2010 license!  All dogs over the age over 6 months must be licensed by April 1st each year.  Proof of rabies vaccination is required.

International Travel.  ALL persons, including U.S. citizens, traveling by air between the United States and any foreign country including Canada, Mexico, Central and South America, the Caribbean, and Bermuda must carry a valid passport. If you are traveling by sea or land to Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Bermuda a passport is recommended, but a valid driver’s license along with a certified copy of your birth certificate will be accepted until June 1, 2009.  For more information from the U.S. Department of State website please click Here

Overview The City Clerk is the official record keeper for the City of Newton. Records kept by the Office of the City Clerk include but are not limited to vital statistics (birth, marriage, and death certificates), Uniform Commercial Code (UCC) filings, Business Certificates (DBA’s), appeals from decisions of the Zoning Board of Appeals and Planning Board, and filings from City Boards and Commissions. The City Clerk is the official keeper of the City Seal and City Ordinances. All notifications and documents are public records, with some exceptions pertaining to vital records.
