Welcome to the City of Newton, Massachusetts

The City of Newton has authorized the trial of a new Commercial Parking Permit program for the City’s Municipal Parking Lots. This program will allow Newton businesses and non-profit organizations located on a business zoned parcel within 1000 feet of a municipal parking lot to rent spaces in that lot for the use of their employees. Businesses that participate will be assigned a parking space(s) and will be provided with two parking stickers for each space to affix to the designated cars (additional stickers for the same space may be purchased).

Parking Spaces in the following lots are available. Click on the Parking Lot name for a Map of the properties eligible to participate in the program:

• Auburndale - Melrose Avenue: (20 spaces)
• Newton Corner - Pearl Street: (20 spaces)
• Newton Corner - Richardson Street: (15 spaces)
• Newton Highlands - Hartford Street: (5 spaces)
• Newtonville - Austin Street: (30 spaces)
• Newton Centre - Pelham Street: (20 spaces)
• Newton Centre - Pleasant Street: (20 spaces)
• Nonantum - Adams Street: (10 spaces)
• Nonantum - Chapel Street: (10 spaces)
• West Newton - Cherry Street: (5 spaces)

The cost to rent a space from June 1, 2009 to May 31, 2010 is $960.00 and must be paid in advance. Fees will be prorated by month. The assigned space will be reserved for your designated employee(s) from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm, Monday through Saturday.

Only business owners in the designated area will be allowed to participate in the program. Commercial vehicles may not use these spaces. Cars parked in the designated spot without the permit sticker affixed will be towed.

Applicants will be notified by e-mail and will have 15 days to submit payment to the Newton Police Department’s Traffic Bureau to receive their permits. Payment in full is required for the year and payments are nonrefundable. Full instructions for submitting payment, assignment of spaces, and receiving permits will be made available to successful applicants.
