Newton-Brookline Consumer Office

The Newton-Brookline Consumer Office provides free consumer mediation to Newton residents under the auspices of the Newton Department of Senior Services and in cooperation with the Department of the Attorney General. The office is staffed by the Co-Directors, Mim Cole and Judy Zohn and trained volunteer mediators.

Our goal is to assist the consumer and the business reach a mutually satisfactory resolution of their dispute, as well as to avoid the need for court action. All mediation is done by telephone following the receipt of our complaint form and supportive documentation. Our service includes self- help and referral information. All complaints filed with our office are incorporated into the Attorney General’s computer data base.
