FUNDING GUIDELINES & PROCESS
Start working on your proposal at least 3 months before the deadline. The CPC will not consider incomplete or late proposals.  First, download and read the funding guidelines and forms below carefully. Then contact us for an in-person meeting, so we can answer questions and provide computer-fillable forms (the forms linked to this page are read-only).
Contact us at any time of year to ask:
  • if your proposal can be considered off-cycle (early)
  •  if you can use the shorter, supplemental funding process
  • for help in preparing a pre-proposal (a "one-pager") to get early confirmation of your proposal's eligibility, seek matching funds, or make the CPC aware of a future proposal

Funding Guidelines   long-term goals, updated only as needed
Fiscal 2010-12 Funding Priorities   updated every 2-3 years, with community input
Other City plans to cite in support of your proposal:

Regular Funding Process   applies to virtually all proposals
Supplemental Funding Process   shorter, but applied at the CPC's discretion; ask about this at least 3 months before the regular deadline, so you can still use the regular process if you need to

Massachusetts Community Preservation Act (CPA)
The Community Preservation Act itself (Massachusetts General Laws chapter 44b) specifies how the Act is adopted and implemented in local communities.
CP funds may be spent only on community (affordable) housing, historic resources, open space, and land for recreational use. The Act also specifies: the types of work or activities that may be funded for each resource, to ensure that "community preservation funds [do] not replace existing operating funds, only augment them."  For more information about the CPA, click on the links below:
