Colored lithograph of a view looking south from the west bank of the Charles below the mill dam. The aqueduct spans the gorge above a canoeist, possibly a woman in a large hair-do or a broad-brimmed hat.

There are several versions of this card in the collection, with a confusing tangle of credit lines for manufacturers and publishers:

  • This one, an undivided-back card with a small blank area for a message at the right edge of the front. While the manufacturer's credit identifies the Metropolitan News Co., it appears to have been printed by the Rotograph Co.: The typeface used for the caption and orange ink used to print the back are typical of Rotograph cards. (The back designs, however, are different.) The complete publisher's credit runs vertically up the left edge of the card back: "No. 6755. The Metropolitan News Co., Boston, Mass. Manufacturers of Souvenir Postal Cards. Printed in Germany."

  • Metropolitan News Co. (Rotograph), No. 6755 (db) -- a divided-back version of this view that adds credit for Robbins Bros.

  • Robbins Bros., numbered E, with an undivided back.

  • Metropolitan Publishing Co., No. 9721.
The back of this card is clean except for the Jackson Homestead stamp. There is light corner wear.
