The Card shows:
A tinted monochrome lithograph of a photographic view of Echo Bridge looking south from the vicinity of Boylston St./Rte. 9. The roof of a mill building is visible through the arch, and the trees are in summer leaf. The entire scene is overprinted with a blue plate which colors the water of the river and puts clouds into the sky.

The card carries no identification of maker or publisher other than the number "1940" on the caption line on the front, but the "Post Card" heading on its divided back clearly matches the heading on the undivided backs of the N. E. Paper & Stationery Co.'s cards captioned "View on the Charles River, Newton, Mass." and numbered 1943, and "View on the Charles River, Auburndale, Mass.," numbered 1948.

The card was postally used, and carries two postmarks, both dated August 18, 1909 -- one from Boston and one from Waquoit, Mass. It is addressed to Mrs. Richard Little, 27 Maple St., Newton, Mass., and the message reads: "We came as far as Middleboro on the electricts, it stormed so we took the steam then. took a team from Fal. reached here about five. how did you reach home? Love, Bertha."

The card is in good condition, with edge wear, damage to the left corners, and a chip out of the left edge.
