The Card shows: A colored lithograph of a photographic view showing the aqueduct taken from a viewpoint looking north from the mill dam -- the same view, showing a female canoeist in the foreground, as several other cards. There are several versions of this card in the collection, with a confusing tangle of credit lines for manufacturers and publishers. To further complicate things, there are two variants of this divided-back version in the collection -- one with a "three-quarter" divided back, indicating it is perhaps a very early divided-back card, with the number "(33310)" printed vertically at the right edge of the stamp box. This one was mailed July 17, 1989 by by Bob Spinner, a patron of the Jackson Homestead's collection of postcards, from California to relatives in Newton. The other has a different back design, more evenly divided between the message and address areas. It is unused and has a very dirty right front edge and a back clean except for "2.00" and "120 W" in pencil. Postcard type: Divided Back Estimated Date of Publication: About 1908 Postmark Date: 89 |
