"Dam, Newton Upper Falls, Mass., in Winter."

Manufacturer: Robbins Bros.
Manufacturer's No.: F. 11748

Village: Upper Falls
Filed: Charles River - Norumbega Park
Keywords: Bridges / Aqueducts / Dams, Rivers / Brooks, Stores / Businesses

The Card shows: A colored lithograph of a heavily retouched photographic view of the upper dam and mill in winter, with much ice below the dam and on the surface of the river. A Robbins Bros. logo appears in the lower left corner of the vertical-format design, and a line in a spidery hand across the bottom of the view can be read perhaps as "Miss Effie Samuel, Thurman, Ga.," which would fit with the initials of the sender on the back.

The complete credit runs vertically up the left edge of the back: "F. 11748 Publ. by Robbins Bros. Boston, Mass. and Germany."

The card back carries a message and address, but was never mailed. It is addressed to Mr. Adam S. Leid, Adamstown, Pa. The message reads like one postcard collector talking to another: "I think that card is fine. Would like to visit that place. I think you have a nice collection of foreign cards. I have only a few foreign. E.N.S." "R-01-1" is penciled in the lower right corner and there is significant rubbing along the upper edge of the back.

Postcard type: Divided Back
Estimated Date of Publication: About 1910
