Walk Against Violence Planned
The Newton Women’s Commission, in conjunction with the Newton Human Rights Commission, will sponsor a "Take Back the Night" Walk and Domestic Violence Resource Fair Tuesday to recognize Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
The walk will begin at 6 p.m. in six locations throughout the city: Mason-Rice School, Eliot Church, All Newton Music School, Cold Spring Park, Newton North High School, and the Newton Free Library. It will end at Newton City Hall.
The purpose of the walk is to raise awareness about domestic violence and to inspire action that will help bring an end to violence against women. Participants should bring flashlights.
Beginning at 7 p.m. in the City Hall War Memorial Auditorium, several guest speakers will discuss their own personal experiences with domestic and relationship violence.
For more information, call Karen Griffey in the mayor’s office at 617-796-1110.
