A Celebration of Newton Women - March 23, 2002

11 Newton women were honored this past Saturday, March 23, 2002 for their important contribution toward enhancing the quality of life of their community. "A Celebration of Newton Women" was sponsored by the Newton Women's Commission to commemorate March as Women's History Month.

In addition to recognizing the work of these women, the event also showcased "Women in the Peace and Civil Rights Movement," presented by the Newton Voice of Women. This video documenting the anti-war efforts of some Newton women from the 1960s and 1970s was quite moving and inspiring.
