Women's Commission

Mission Statement of the Women's Commission

 

The Newton Women’s Commission advises the Mayor on matters related to the quality of the lives of Newton women and their families.The Commission provides support, advocacy and resource referrals to women of all ages, socio-economic backgrounds, ethnic origins, and from every village in the City.

The Women’s Commission helps build awareness and appreciation of women’s contributions to this community and society. It provides opportunities for women to be part of networks that will achieve their goals.

Goals:

  •  To be a resource to all women in Newton
  •  To highlight the achievements and work of women
  •  To eliminate the bias and oppression of women
  •  To identify and serve the needs of women in Newton
  •  To appreciate and publicize the inherent value, intelligence and beauty of ALL women
  •  To share skills and expertise with each other and with the larger community
